Tasted blind, the 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques exhibits aromas of dark fruits, raspberries, coniferous forest floor and grilled meat, framed by a comparatively generous overt touch of recently used oak that turns somewhat planky with extended aeration. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, tangy and ample, with a surprisingly firm and drying finish that depressed my score. That's in keeping with how this Lavaux showed in February. Rousseau produced some utterly stunning wines in 2015, but this bottling is one of the weaker links.
