Not surprisingly this closely resembles its counterpart in 750 ml (see herein) and other than the ever-so-mildly exotic nose being slightly fresher, there isn't much diffierence to the pretty notes of tea, dried yellow fruit, spice and soft floral hints that are surrounded by enough wood to notice. There is excellent volume to the delicious and extract-rich medium weight plus flavors that coat the palate on the supple and seductive textured finish. 2001 is not a genuinely great vintage by the elevated standards of the Leflaive Bâtard but it is an exceptionally good example in the context of the vintage. For my taste this is drinking well enough now that it could certainly be opened now but in magnum format I would be inclined to hold it for a few more years first with the hopes of developing a bit more overall depth.

Liquid minerals, spices, and hints of fresh herbs can be found in the aromatic profile of the light to medium-bodied 2001 Chevalier-Montrachet. A very pretty wine, it reveals outstanding depth, flesh, and purity to its mineral and herb-laced personality. Drink it over the next 6 years.
