Sloan Estate, nestled in the hills of Rutherfod, Napa Valley, California, is celebrated for its low-yield, high-quality wines, establishing itself as a standout in the realm of cult and garage wines. Situated at an elevation of 875 to 990 feet, the estate spans 40 acres, with 13 acres of vineyards first planted in 1997. The unique terroir, shaped by abundant sunshine, cool marine influences, and a diverse soil composition of white tufa, sandy loam, and volcanic rock, provides the perfect conditions for crafting exceptional wines.
Sloan Estate focuses on producing just two wines: Sloan and Asterisk, both crafted as exquisite Bordeaux blends. The talented team includes the esteemed Michel Rolland, known as the “Flying Winemaker,” who serves as the oenologist and blending consultant.
Sloan Proprietary Red, the estate's flagship wine, made its debut in 2000. This compelling blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot achieves a remarkable balance between bold power and refined elegance, showcasing impressive intensity and complexity. Its intricate layers of delicate fruit flavors, mineral undertones, and nuanced profiles beautifully reflect the unique terroir of the estate. Asterisk, the estate’s second selection, was first released in 2004. This wine combines Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, offering inviting aromas of plum, blackcurrant, cigar, sandalwood, and a hint of leather.
