Established in 2003, this Domaine may be relatively young, but it has already earned a reputation as one of Burgundy's top estates. Cecile Tremblay took the reins of her family vineyards to found this Domaine, with most of the vineyards originating from her great-grandfather, Edouard Jayer, who was the uncle of the legendary Henri Jayer.
Cecile's wines are celebrated for their stunning aromas, exquisite elegance, and limited production. With great care, she meticulously tends to the vineyards, achieving organic certification and embracing biodynamic viticulture to ensure the health and maturity of the grapes. In the winemaking process, she tailors her approach to each vintage and wine, utilizing both whole bunch fermentation and destemming as needed. The grapes undergo gentle, long maceration, followed by 15 to 18 months of aging in 30-65% new oak.
Among Cecile Tremblay’s exceptional portfolio, the standout wines include Echezeaux de Dessus and Chapelle Chambertin. The Echezeaux de Dessus plot, a mere 0.18 hectares, captures the very essence of the Echezeaux Grand Cru. The resulting wine is captivating, offering vibrant notes of raspberries, red currants, Asian spices, and deep, earthy minerality. Its energy and aromatic complexity leave a lasting impression.
Meanwhile, her Chapelle Chambertin is widely regarded as an exemplary expression of this Grand Cru, showcasing a silky, generous, and delicate style with complex flavors of richness, earthiness, and floral notes, reminiscent of the wonderful characteristics of Vosne Romanee and Morey Saint Denis.
In addition to Grand Cru offerings, Cecile Tremblay crafts an impressive array of Premier Cru, Villages, and Regional wines. Notable examples include Vosne Romane Les Beaux Monts, Chambolle Musigny Les Feusselottes, as well as Morey Saint Denis Tres Girard and Nuits Saint Georges Les Murgers. Her amazing blend of terroir and exceptional winemaking skills has garnered her acclaim from wine lovers around the globe, establishing her as one of the leading female winemakers in Burgundy, often hailed as the next Leroy.
