Albert Bichot
A distinguished family owned winery and negociant, Maison Albert Bichot is celebrated for crafting wines that embody the elegance and complexity of Burgundy’s storied terroir. Based in the historic town of Beaune, the estate manages over 100 hectares of vineyards across six estates that span the Cote d’Or, Chablis, and Beaujolais.
Founded in 1831, the winery has remained under family stewardship for nearly two centuries, with Alberic Bichot, the sixth generation, taking the reins in 1996. The winery’s prominence in the Burgundian wine community is further highlighted by its active participation in the Hospices de Beaune wine auction, reinforcing its status as a leading negociant.
The Maison emphasizes responsible viticulture to honor terroir and preserve nature. Vineyard care prioritizes observation and prevention, with thoughtful soil work (ploughing, cover crops, and organic amendments) and extensive manual operations to support vine health. The same thorough approach is applied to partner growers, with clear long-term objectives for grape health, yields, and harvest ripeness. This collaborative standard serves as a benchmark and guide for all.
While six prestige estates span Burgundy, the highlighted Domaine du Clos Frantin sits at the heart of the collection. Based in Nuits Saint Georges, it covers 13.2 ha and produces Grands Crus from venerable vineyards like Chambertin, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, Clos de Vougeot, Richebourg, and a Vosne Romanee Premier Cru holding in Aux Malconsorts.
The vineyards have been organically certified since 2012, and from the 2018 vintage onward, every wine from the estate carries the official “organic wine” label. With a focus on soil health, stringent pruning, and occasional green harvests, the yield is kept deliberately low to ensure exceptional quality.
