The nose was really nice, there is an off note on the palate but not sure if I am scoring this correct, I found this really difficult to score. Nose Smells really sweet, almost like a few desert wines I have had and it also smells really fruity, a stewed, candied fruit sort of smell. There is plenty of lemon and honey with a dash of grapefruit, peat is in the mix with the sherry (possibly Fino sherry?) After a while something woody and vegetal emerges, not unpleasant or anything and then some wood varnish notes emerge with a few wisps of smoke. I think this could be Glenfarclas as there are similarities with some of the 1973 unnamed Speyside's I have tried this year. Finally plenty of spice in the mix, a really nice combination. Taste Very creamy and oaky the fruit is trying to keep the wood at bay, it is a battle from the start. I detect a few coffee notes and then something I am not sure about, like a chemical taste that I have noticed in some old Irish whiskies like 50's & 60's Jameson's? The fruit thankfully remains with a little salted caramel but that chemical/metallic taste also remains and basiv=cally spoils it Finish Not too bad but the metallic taste remains
