Moderate wood toast sets off earth and very cool mineral-laced red currant, plum and underbrush-infused aromas that complement well the supple and generous flavors that culminate in a linear and persistent finish where the wood resurfaces. The structural elements are very firm, indeed to the point where this is borderline strict, which in and of itself is not unusual for Chambertin but it is unusual within the context of the 2009 vintage.
