A mature and somber if fresh and spicy dark berry fruit nose is still trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is good size, weight and power to the punchy and rich medium-bodied flavors that offer acceptable depth and persistence on the, somewhat surprisingly, slightly rustic and still firm finale. As was the case from barrel, if there is a nit it's that the flavors do not display as much precision or complexity as one might like though this is certainly satisfying in its fashion. Still, for Musigny, it's reasonable to expect more. I would add that for my taste, this has reached its apogee and there is no benefit to holding it further, at least not based on this bottle.
