In contrast to the expressiveness of the foregoing wines, here the nose is brooding and only grudgingly shares its combination of spicy red currant, dark cherry, rose petal and not much else. The rich, concentrated and broad-shouldered larger-bodied flavors possess unusually good size and weight for the vintage, all wrapped in a compact, complex and beautifully long finale that is even firmer. This is very good and one of the better vintages for the Anne Gros Riche.
