I have had good experiences with this wine with there is really lovely purity of expression with its spice, floral and fresh red berry fruit aromas. There is excellent tension and punch to the mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess good mid-palate sap and fine persistence. While certainly a lovely effort it is not one of the great vintages for this storied wine. For my taste the '98 Amoureuses is now drinking perfectly and while it could certainly be held longer with no problem there is little if any remaining upside. Note that one recent bottle displayed enough brett to be off-putting.
