The reserve this displayed from cask has been replaced by an expressive and spicy small black berry and dark cherry liqueur notes followed by fresh, plumy, low acid and very forward middle weight flavors that offer excellent persistence but remarkably little complexity by the usual extremely high standards of this wine. This may very well add complexity as it ages but for the moment, it's frankly a bit simple though it is delicious and finishes firm and long, which is at least suggestive of future improvement.
