Descriptions, Ratings & Tasting Notes

93
score

This hadn't come my way since 2015 yet it is holding in reasonably well. Deep golden color with a light hint of tea on the rim. There is good to very good but not truly excellent complexity to the nose that has gone fully secondary in character, indeed to the point that there are notes of sous-bois, along with a hint of oxidation, present on the brioche, apricot preserve and ever-so-slightly oaky aromas. There is good detail and intensity to the still powerful and focused flavors that possess solid, if not exceptional, size and weight before culminating in a lingering if ever-so-mildly edgy finish. This is certainly a Lafon Montrachet of very good quality but it isn't at the level of rivaling the heights that this wine routinely achieves. Tasted only twice in recent years and my scores have ranged from 92 to 93.
