Aromas of pear, orange oil, almond paste, fresh bread and white flowers introduce the 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains, a medium to full-bodied, layered and lively wine that's satiny and enveloping, with lovely texture and mid-palate amplitude, concluding with a pure, lively finish. Even if it's quite aromatically expressive, I'd encourage readers to exercise at least a few years' patience before opening bottles, as I expect this to develop very gracefully indeed.
