A mystery wine and while some guessed at other Paulliac stable,ates, a few correctly guessed this group favourite. Savoury nose, with the fruit being replaced by leather and cedary tobacco notes. The palate is chewy, masculine, with a robust feel and a medium plus finish. Very good but not quite as elegant as others.

Once past the bouquet of black fruits, cedar, and oak of the 1989, it is round, generously endowed, surprisingly supple (even for the second wine of Latour), low in acidity, with a fleshy, heady finish. Anticipated maturity: 1994-2004.
