Like the Bourgogne the nose is very bright and fresh with subtle earth and underbrush notes adding interest to the mostly red berry fruit aromas. I very much like the texture of the delicious and restrained medium-bodied flavors that also possess a relatively refined mid-palate before concluding in a robust, austere and serious finale. This will need a few years of bottle age to round out and become a bit more civilized. Note that while this is qualitatively similar to the Champ the palate impression is very different.
