The wines showed great and were better than I had expected, especially the older wines were superb. All wines were double decanted right before the tasting. We did not quite finish the wines and kept some with argon gas in the bottle. They held up very well until the next day. Very impressive staying power from 25 year old California wines. The group’s and my favourite wine. Very light and mature looking. Fresh, vibrant, with bright California fruit, but with a Bordeaux structure and mouthfeel. Good, intense cherry liqueur. Long, delicious aftertaste but also some Bordeaux notes of cedar, graphite, mushrooms and underbrush. Best bottle of Opus One I’ve ever had. 95 p.
