First thing comes to my mind: this has to be the lightest weight bordeaux I have ever tasted. Looking light and transparent with a brown rim, one can hardly tell its true origin without seeing the label. The nose brings a unique mix of tabacco, olive, sweet jam and hint of tomato. On the palate it offers a transparent but thick texture which coats your mouth with this unusual sweetness and concentration that one does not come across often. Gains a bit of weight with time, and the wine continues to offer great nuances, not overtly complex but admirably deep, ends with a lovely finish. Won't improve? Perhaps, but it's just too delicious that I can't stop imagining how it was like when at peak. Perhaps it never did, nevertheless it offers the utmost pleasure to drink today, it will surely be remembered as one of those rare wine moments.

The wine of the vintage, this is the best Petrus for immediate consumption from those wines produced in the seventies. Given the prolific yield in 1973 and diluted quality of many wines, the Petrus is sensationally concentrated, rich, supple, fat, and so, so flavorful. Friends tell me that it is still a delicious wine. Anticipated maturity: Now.
