I like to call Chateau Trotanoy the poor mans Petrus, but only because the vineyards of Petrus are only about a toss of an empty wine bottle away. This Trotanoy was good but did take some time to open up. It was uncorked and left open for about an hour before drinking and still seemed to need a little time to come together. Nice crimson color with earth, plum and a little spice on the nose. Still has a tannic edge to it and I would have like to see a little more fruit shine through. However, once we got into the slow cooked lamb everything paired wonderfully.
