The 2003 is the finest Corton-Charlemagne I’ve tasted from this estate. Benefiting (for once) from its less-than-stellar location on the Pernand-Vergelesses side of the hill of Corton, it reveals a nose of buttered almonds, toast, and sweet pears. This is an extremely sensual wine with medium body, outstanding depth of fruit, admirable purity, and a lengthy finish. Its plush, spicy personality displays super-ripe white fruit flavors as well as a beguiling note of candied almonds. Drink this fruit-driven, sultry wine over the next 6-7 years.
