Unlike the Leroy, this greatly surpasses expectations. Mature pale brick with some garnet hanging in the middle. The nose is lovely: sweet red fruits mixed with crushed leaves. Lots of life. The palate is silky and mature with a lovely sweet mid-palate. The finish is a bit short with a slightly metallic note - the wine’s weakness for sure. All in all a lovely way to celebrate turning 50.
