This beauty continues to evolve slowly with its ripe but not roasted nose of wonderfully layered anise, plum, Vosne spice and violets scents that are trimmed in a hint of menthol. The vibrant, delicious and concentrated medium-bodied flavors possess both fine power and a certain muscularity before culminating in a complex, moderately austere and sneaky long finish. This is a powerful yet elegant wine of outstanding density that possesses the underlying material and balance to age for decades to come. I should note that initially there was some mild reduction present though aggressive swirling caused it to dissipate quickly but even so, I would suggest decanting it first. Though not fully mature, it is sufficiently near its peak that it could certainly be enjoyed now. Tasted thrice since 2012 with relatively consistent notes.
