Based on a bottle tasted in 2015: A touch of menthol is present on the broad-ranging nose that offers up notes of herbal tea, spice, dried cherries and discreet floral nuances. Like the 2008 the middle weight flavors possess a silky mouth feel though unlike the 2008 there isn't the same density and palate coating sappiness though on the plus side there is ample minerality and outstanding length on the balanced and highly complex finale. This is one of the few younger vintages of La Romanée that could reasonably be approached now with real pleasure though for my taste I would recommend holding this for a few more years first. Lovely stuff. By contrast, another bottle tasted in November 2022 seemed advanced, leafy and a bit green on the edgy finish. The bottle appeared to be intact with no signs of mistreatment so I cannot explain the poor showing.
