The wine was medium to dark ruby in colour and threw some sediment. It had an integrated nose of black currant, cherry, blackberry, cedar, spices, sweet chestnut and underbrush aromas. On the palate, the wine showed black currant, cherry, blackberry, cedar, cocoa, coffee, spices, tobacco, vegetal notes, a hint of sweet liquorice and a mineral component, with lively, well-integrated acidity, mostly resolved tannin, a great, smooth mouthfeel and superb length. The wine even improved over night and drank even better on day two. Withstanding time.
