This wine captures the 2008 vintage and the d'Auvenay style in spades. Marine notes, cherries, raspberries, stems, and wood on the nose. Sweet and saline on the palate, with the soft but persistent tannins masked by the fruit. Like most 2008s, this needs another 10 to 15 years to become approachable, but it gives the impression that the fruit will always be open for business and scrutiny as the wine evolves.
