From its two barrels, Potel's Bellene 2008 Chambertin Clos de Beze features heady aromas and palate-staining intensity of blackberry preserves, espresso, resin, vanilla. I find this almost superfluous in sweetness; overly marked by its oak, and its pronounced finishing salinity not enticingly or invigoratingly mineral. That said, there is imposing richness on display here, along with well-covered tannins, and not only can I imagine it having the stamina to remain fresh, perhaps it will also gain post-racking complexity and integration of wood.
