Still remarkably primary with a nose that is the crystalline essence of black cherry pinot sap though there are the initial hints of secondary aromas and spice notes now in evidence. While still firmly structured, there is an opulence to the concentrated and mouth coating flavors that are supported by ripe tannins that are completely buffered by all the extract. This is flat out great and while still youthful there are now enough signs of maturity to say that it has arrived at its peak. In my view, this is the best de Vogüé Musigny since at least '71 and should live for 50 years without breathing hard, particularly in magnum format. Multiple, and consistent, notes in both magnum and 750 ml.
