In contrast to the same wine in 750 ml (see herein for that review), there was a trace of volatile acidity present on the otherwise elegant and exceptionally pretty effort that has also reached its apogree even in magnum format with its beautifully complex and fully mature aromas of spice, earth, smoked meat and secondary fruit aromas. There is the same lovely and caressing mouth feel to the attractively energetic and pure medium-bodied flavors that offer very fine depth on the balanced and utterly delicious finish. This is not a big or especially concentrated effort (though few 2001s are) but the sense of harmony and integration of elements is most admirable. As I noted, for my taste this has reached its full maturity and while there is no rush to drink up neither should you expect any further upside development even in the large format. I should underscore that I have only tried this once from magnum and thus I am not certain that another example would necessarily display the VA that this one did.
