New parcel, first vintage. Upon opening I thought this is overripe, but it is just vintage ripe with quite a lot of sugar; could be an off-dry if served blind. Great matchstick/firework reductive nose, very lifted and intense. Acidity isn't as pronounced as in other cuvees (Chassagne and Bourgogne), which is a bit odd. Aromatic nose, apricot, pineapple, peach jam, green lime, zest, pepper, vanilla, river stone minerality, soily, orange flowers, gun flint, fireworks, sage, butterscotch, caramel, popcorn. Syrupy texture, which turns into a lengthy stretched palate; still I think there is bit too much sugar, and need significantly more time than usual. It also gives some burnt aromatics, which reminds me of syrupy Chinese medicine, herbal and sugary. Vintage heat only undertonned, good handling. Balance is superb despite the sweetness, with edgy acidity that curbs before it is lousy, getting more angular and mouthwatering. Fairly complex, sharp, precise with deep heat. Should improve a lot after cellaring time. 92-93+
